CONISBOROUGH CASTLE

A wooden Norman structure replaced with an unique 90 foot 1180-90 keep. This is cylindrical in shape and has 6 strengthening buttresses. It fell into decay in the 15th century but the keep and part of the walls still stand.

English Heritage, open all year.
