FARNHAM CASTLE

The Entry Tower

The castle consisted of a square tower erected on a mound in 1138 (the keep was demolished or slighted by the 13th century). The castle was enlarged in the late 12th century by the circular shell keep and an outer curtain wall. By 1475 the large entry tower had been added. The castle was slighted after the Civil War in 1648.

English Heritage, open April - September.
