12th century Royal castle beautifully sited above River Nidd on a Saxon site that was rebuilt in the 14th century with keep and 11 towers. Now only the keep dating from 1310, and remains of curtain wall and towers remain after severe slighting in the Civil War.
Open April - September, guided tours only.
