Originally 103 towers were built to resist Napoleon at the start of the 19th
century, stretching from Sussex to Suffolk. 45 of the towers still remain, but
many are in ruins.
The East Anglian towers can be seen on the coast near Aldeburgh, Shingle
Street, Bawdsey,
Walton and Seawick.
