OXWICH & PENRICE CASTLES

Oxwich was built in 1541 on the site of a vanished Norman castle and originally had a six storey tower.

The motte of the 1090 Penrice castle remains. The Keep dates from mid 13th century and the walls from around 1300. It was partly destroyed in Civil War and was abandoned afterwards, Oxwich becoming the main residence.

Private.
