PEMBROKE CASTLE


A timber castle was built in 1090 surrounded on 3 sides by water. A round, stone 75 foot keep and towers were added c1200 and the outer walls and towers in mid 13th century. It was severely damaged in the Civil War but was completely restored in 1880.
