WHITTINGTON CASTLE

A manor house fortified in 1219 with keep and towers by a Norman motte. The twin towered gatehouse remains, but much of the stone was removed after the castle was slighted in the Civil War.

A programme is under way to preserve the remains by the Whittington Castle Preservation Trust - see link below - so do help if you can.
