COMMUNITY COUNCIL REORGANISATION
Existing Community Councils were dissolved on 17th September under South Lanarkshire Councils reorganisation scheme, and nominations were called for members of the new Councils, with a closing date of 22nd October. Within the past few days, South Lanarkshire Council has written to all nominees informing them that inaugural meetings will be held shortly. In Black Mounts case, the number of nominations did not exceed the number of places available, and so elections will not be required.
Black Mount Community Council will have 9 members drawn from this area. Readers will recall that, in December last year, the Community Council boundary was changed to include Newbigging, together with parts of the former Carnwath Community Council area, or Libberton Parish and Carmichael Ward.
Any local residents who would like to be involved in any way with the new Community Council will be very welcome at the inaugural meeting. We hope to be notified of the date shortly, and, as this will undoubtedly be before the next edition of the Bugle, we will ensure that details are published in the local press, posted in Elsrickle and Dolphinton halls, and included on our community web site.
Finally, to all residents of Black Mount, we wish a very merry Christmas and a happy and peaceful New Year. See you next century!
Brian Curle
Chairman, Black Mount Community Council
