BLACK MOUNT BUGLE

Number 71

October 2006

We are delighted that new members have been willing to come forward and help with the work of the Community Council. In particular, I welcome Margaret Grice as a co-opted member. I know she will be very committed and hardworking on behalf of members of the community.

South Lanarkshire Council have informed us that new flashing speed reducing signs are avout to be installed along the A721 in both Newbigging and Elsrickle. We hope that thrse will make walking around our villages an even more pleasant experience. The Community Council has corresponded with the roads Department for many years over this issue, and I sincerely thank the Community Council Secretaries who have played such an important role in helping to realise this achievement.

As we move towards the festive season, our attention turns to our major social events of the year:

5th November - Bonfire and Fireworks - Dunsyre Hall - 7.00pm (remember to bring a torch);

8th December - Senior Citizens' Christmas Dinner - Elsrickle Hall - 7.00pm

As always, we are pleased to welcome members of the public to our meetings. These normally take place on the first Monday each month at 7.30pm in Elsrickle Hall. Exact dates are given on the back page of the Bugle.

Joan Highton
