Immediate trading
brings benefits for both buyer and seller.
Buyer can obtain the required goods straight away. Seller only spends time in concluding a deal. No more piles of emails/icqs to sort through, buyers to chase up etc. The deal is done immediately or not at all!! Detailed database allows both buyer and seller to enter items quickly, easily and accurately. No more facet confusion. If you only want to sell in your facet, set your profile. If buyer doesn't want to change facet, they will use results filter to remove products from a facet. Seller can be available (or unavailable) for trading at any time. No more being disturbed if you want to concentrate on other things. When a suitable item is found, buyer will be presented with a full list of sellers items currently available. This should lead to much increased business with benefits for both sides. (i.e. "oh, whilst I'm here, I'd also like to buy your 500 recall scrolls" etc.) Ability to see when seller is available allows more use of email, rather than ICQ. Also, more email usage reduces the mammoth clogging of ICQ contact lists. (You ought to see the size and state of mine!!)

Price
problems. Buyer may simply choose the cheapest available good
thereby forcing a downward spiral of prices.
No mixed bags of items. You can't sell a barrel load of various products as a 'job lot'. Each would have to be entered and sold seperately. Seller is unlikely to do much business whilst set as 'offline'. This isn't as big a problem as it may seem. Certainly buyers are likely to go for online traders if they can find the goods they require. However, just because you're offline, doesn't mean your items won't be returned by the search. It may also be possible for buyers to reserve items stocked by offline sellers. When seller comes online, they will see that a certain named buyer has asked to reserve one of their products. It will then be upto seller (if they choose to do so) to contact the buyer or ignore/delete the reservation.
