I've always been a big fan of music despite being born in the early
seventies.
Some of my favourite bands:
The
Handsome Family - I've had some funny looks from friends when I
tell them that I'm a fan of a 'New Country' band. Renee and Brett Sparks
write and perform some dark, yet strangely inspiring and beautiful songs.
Nearly came to blows with some bloke in a hat at the Charlotte in Leicester
who was dissing them. That's how much I love them.
Voivod
- Quebecois band who recorded my favourite album of all time: 'Dimension
Hatross'. Not quite so good now they've gone a bit conservative and
'power metal'. This links with the Official Page featuring the usual
stuff but particularly good as Voivod have always been into this sort
of thing anyway.
Killdozer
- The page featuring the best band biography. Suitably humorous from
the Wisconsin band (although who now have sadly called it a day) who
gave us a 'bake-off' competition on an album and annotated lyrics and
reading list on their album 'Uncompromising War On Art Under The Dictatorship
Of The Proleteriat'.
Split Enz
- Put together by two Kiwis about their national heroes. With a very
comprehensive discography.
Trash Can Sinatras
- 'Nice legs, shame about the website'. Kilmarnock's best product. Band
who came up with the line 'We are the carpet-burned knees of desire'.
Never understood how Travis are so popular and not this lot
Erik
Satie - A tribute to a true visionary
If you want to search for another band The
Ultimate Band List is pretty comprehensive
Making Music:
Turntables - Thanks to Flash
- choose from 'Old School' or 'New School' and spin those Tunes!
