Hiking Bench photos

This site has just been updated with technical (!) drawings to let you make your own bench. See the bottom of this page.

This is a view from the front:  (50400 bytes) and from the back: (65270 bytes)

Hiking-strap detail:  (38041 bytes)  Taking the top and bracing bar off...  (56634 bytes) and folding it...  (43287 bytes)  you can shut it entirely...... (46762 bytes) and lean it against the wall!  (23637 bytes)

It has taken the heaviest Laser sailors (210 lbs good enough for you? -  or shouldn't you be sailing a Finn?) and it has lasted for four years without needing more than a screw-tightening. There are no pulleys, no bags of sand: just try to hike on it without using your arms, and you'll be fit enough to hike 2-mile beats in your Laser!

OK, here are the 'technical' drawings. These are very much a first shot, so please send any problems you have understanding them to deadrock@globalnet.co.uk. They were written in Powerpoint and saved as GIF files.
