Dinner Dance May 6th
The club's dinner dance at Acton Court proved to be a great success and
raised more than £1000 for club funds, with more to come through
the sale of football memorabilia. The final total could be nearer £1800.
The124 diners were royally entertained by comic impressionist Mike Maguire
of Magic 1152 and KEY 103. His act included getting on stage Phil McGreal,
Dunc Bray and Danny Godfrey to do their own impressions. Phil was asked
to do Dale Winton and was uncannily accurate. Danny Godfrey did Rolf Harris
and Dunc Bray won the mini contest with his unnervingly convincing rendition
of Julian Clary. I think the section house should be told! There was a
surprise presentation of a signed Spurs pennant and shirt, in a frame,
to chairman and dinner organiser George Dearsley, to thank him for his
work for the club. Music was by Lisa Brown, an excellent cover band, which
operates in the Indy market as Snowfight in the City Centre. Among those
attending was Mellor's former second team keeper Greg Yates and his wife.
Greg now lives near Blackpool but works for top law firm Pannone in Manchester.
The evening ended at 1am. Many thanks to all those who sold tickets or
helped in any way.
