Fifth Team loses 1-3 to Mellor Select Xl

Dunc Bray's Fifth Team did themselves proud with a battling display against a Mellor Select X1 including no fewer than four First Teamers, in a friendly match on May 20th. Paul Goodwin gave the Select Xl the lead with a wickedly deflected shot from 22 yards. Rob MacInness equalised after some neat footwork took him past two defenders. Sam Parker restored the lead for the Select Xl with a cool right foot volley direct onto a Paul Newman corner from the left wing. In the second half Luke Jubb made it safe for the Select Xl with a clever chip as he ran onto a long forward ball. In an excellent game there were many moments of clever football. For the Fifths Jack Parr dominated in midfield and John Barlow tackled doggedly at the back and was awarded Dunc Bray's Man of the Match accolade. George Telford, too, impress going forward. Jubby and Dave Wilkinson stood out for the Select Xl.
