Paul Newman
Probably had his best season for Mellor in 2006-07. Wide midfield
player who is a regular in the First Team squad. Fit, quick, brave, he
has matured with experience over the last two years. Probably needs to
score a few more goals to become the complete all purpose player. Ended
the 2005-06 season with a string of fine performances and did the same
again in 2006-07. Is there a theme emerging here? Nickname: Newman or
The Judge (because of the time he sometimes spends on the bench). DoB
10.8.82

Jamie Parker
Joined Mellor in 2007-08. A midfield player who performs mainly for
the Thirds but has also appeared for the Seconds. He has a bright future
at Mellor.
|
 |
Andy Oldham |
 |
Eddy Nickson
Began his second spell for Mellor in February 2007 by being named
Man of the Match in a 3-2 win for the Fifths, after living and working
in Germany for several years.
|
 |
Tom Neil
Leggy but talented player who is not quite sure of his best position.
Probably midfield if he can ensure his stamina levels. Pours a good pint
behind the bar of the Midland in Marple Bridge, too. Fourth Team's leading
scorer in 2007-08, he hit several blinding goals, especially one against
Old Ashtonians away and one against Beechfield at home in the last game
of the season.

Chris Nichols
Came to the club as a back-four defender but has converted into a
central midfielder. He established himself as a first team regular after
joining the club a quarter into the 2002-2003 season. Broke a toe in the
2003 Stockport Senior Cup Final but still hopped up for his medal. Santa
brought him a mountain bike for Christmas 2003 but it still looks suspiciously
shiny. In season 2004-05 he played mainly for the seconds, scoring two
fabulous headed goals, one in his own net against Bedians away, one at
the right end against Hooley Bridge away. Good tackler and covers some
ground but needs to develop his first touch and passing skills. So cool
he even works for Iceland. Nickname: Nichols or Pickles. DoB 19.12.83

Mark Oldham
First team full-back or centre back who can also make surging runs
forward. Won Man of the Match in the Stockport Senior Cup Final in May
2005. Also skippered his side to victory in the club's F A Cup Final Day
5-a-side tournament. Chosen for the Lancs & Cheshire League representative
side in 2005-06 against Liverpool Old Boys League. Struck by a mystery
illness in 2007-08 which saw him lose feeling in his left arm. He still
managed to play for the Thirds with the affliction, which is responding
slowly to treatment. Nickname: Olly. DoB 1.3.84

 |
Jamie Oldham
No relation to Mark (above) but he plays in the same Aerospace side.
He joined Mellor in February 2006 and made his debut for the club in the
Seconds in a 2-5 defeat at home to Denton Town. A left back or left side
midfielder, he has quick feet and good balance and will be a good addition
to the club.
|
 |
Lee Power
Under 17s striker in 2006-07.
|
 |
James Powers
Made his Mellor debut as a sub for the Third Team in a 1-4 defeat
at home to Old Stocs in November 2006
|
 |
Jack Parr
Fifth team midfielder in 2006-07 but ended the 2007-08 campaign as
part of the First Team set up. Scored his first goal for the Firsts in
an away game at Hooley Bridge in April 2008.

Shaun Partridge |
 |
Yiannis Papamichael
Joined Mellor in February 2006. He's from Cyprus but is studying accountancy
at Manchester University. Strong and fit. Nickname: John. DoB 23.8.84.
|
 |
Nathan Patrick
Midfielder who joined the club in 2003-04 season and has played for
the second and third teams. He was on Rochdale's books as a junior. Quick
feet and good stamina. A relative of the singer and entertainer Rikki
Patrick, he's also a nifty disc jockey. DoB 3.11.82
|
 |
Sam Parker
Striker who played mainly in the Fourth team in 2006-07. Fourth Team
Leading Scorer in 2006-07. Moved up to play for the Thirds in 2007-08
and was the side's Player of the Year.
|
 |
Nick Parker
Returned to the club in 2004-05 after making the odd appearance in
the second team. He has performed mainly in the thirds but could go higher.
Brave, strong, he shows good control and an eye for goal. DoB 25.11.83

Mike Palmer
Looks a bit like Lewis Collins out of TV's The Professionals (click
the cursor on his face to see) and was an instant hit after joining the
club in the summer of 2003 with two goals for the second team in his third
game (a friendly against Marfoam).... then a brace in his first league
outing against Newton. He's also an excellent goalkeeper and centre-back
and it was as a back four player that he initially forced his way into
Mellor's First Team. Now he's a quality midfielder. Took over as club
treasurer at the end of the 2006-07 season. Favourite description of opponents,
referees, tonight's TV schedules...."s***". Second Team Players'
Player of the Year and also leading goalscorer in 2007-08. Nickname: Mike.
DoB 26.10.84.
|
 |
Chris Petch
Full back, a stalwart of the Fourth Team from 2005 to 2007 and the
Fifth Team in 2007-08, who played in the Hellawell Shield Cup Final in
2005. A marathon runner, he almost laps other players in training runs
around the pitch. Joined the club committee in 2008. Nickname: Petch
|
 |
Tim Phillips
Ex Disley first teamer who joined Mellor at the start of the 2004-05
season, playing mainly for the Third team. Made his second team
debut away at Hooley Bridge in December 2004 and produced a cool, resolute
performance at centre-back, interspersed with some accurate, raking passes.
Played his junior football with Marple Athletic. Players' Player
of the Year for the Third Team in 2004-05. Broke into the First Team in
2005-06. DoB 19.9.81
|
 |
Phil Quinn DoB 2.10.78 |
 |
Matt Quigley |
 |
Liam Quigley
Joined Mellor in the summer of 2005 and made his debut as a sub for
the first team against Hazel Grove at home. A striker with some deft touches.
Third Team top goalscorer in 2005-06. DoB 22.11.82
|
 |
Chris Porter
Strike forward or winger when playing in the seconds, he has converted
to midfield in the thirds. He certainly has pace - probably one of the
quickest sprinters in the club - but needs a little more experience and
vision to pick out the right pass. Had a taste of second team football
in 2003 and then broke into the first team in 2003-04 after working hard
in summer training. Returned to second team duty and notched some valuable
goals. Season 2004-05 saw him swop to a midfield role in the third team.
He's particularly effective when his girlfriend turns up to watch. Second
Team Player of the Year in 2008. Nickname: Porter. DoB 11.6.83
