Swan National (HSBC Asset Finance) had a problem. Two thousand used Ford Escorts had been returned and were sitting in a carpark in Lichfield depreciating in value at a rate of knots.

There was very little marketing budget and, although the cars could be offered for sale at a very advantageous rate, it was essential that they were sold quickly.

All sorts of ideas were discussed however the solution adopted sums up our approach at Market Bite. We recognised that HSBC had three mutually supportive factors which had been overlooked: Over 50,000 people worked for HSBC in the UK; HSBC Assett Finance was a division that could put together a fantastic finance deal to make these great value cars even more affordable; the delivery mechanism to present a great offer to an internal audience already existed - the payrole.

We created a leaflet, delivered alongside over 50,000 payslips, that offered great finance deals to HSBC staff, friends and family. The result was that HSBC realised the value of £15 million worth of stock at absolutely minimal cost.

This is just one example, we could tell you about a campaign for Paragon Personal Finance that achieved a 5% response rate and over 50% conversion however numbers only tell part of the story.
