I enjoyed your website. I have a comment to make about your plan for London. Excellent idea. I regularly have to travel from London Heathrow airport to Bexleyheath. It's could be a pain of a journey, take ages and cost a packet if I traveled via Central London. Now that LT, in their wisdom, have halted the route 726 at Bromley instead of continuing it to Dartford where it used to go, the journey has got worse.
Orbital routes like the 726 provide cheap and comfortable transport. You just dump your luggage on the bus and relax. No humping suitcases up and down stairs in the Tube or on train stations. Just sit back and read a book or watch London go by.
Another suggestion. When I have visited several cities in the USA I've been very impressed by their transport systems. Sometimes you get express, nonstop routes into the downtown areas. For example each suburb has its own nonstop, express bus to the city centre or business district.
They also have bus only lanes in many cities there but sometimes cars can use them if they are registered members of a car pool. This is a formal agreement between, say a group of people who all work in the same area or at the same company that they will share lifts (and share costs etc as well). They get a special sticker and four or more passengers pile into the car and are allowed to use the fast busonly lanes.
Another idea I have is for free feeder buses to London City airport to. Try getting from Bexleyheath to the new London City airport. Two buses and a ferry or a walk through a tunnel. Fine if you want to get to it from Central London. Don't you think that SE London has been forgotten transportwise for many years?
Finally, I'd like to see better use made of the River Thames for transport. What about high speed passenger boats connecting all those riverside towns, on both the North and the South shores of the river?
As a professional I'd be interested to know what you think. Once again thanks for and informative site.
Kind Regards
Mit freundlichen Grussen
