What is it?
ANNUAL COMPETITIONS.
The N.C.P.F. Annual Competitions take place each April. They are open to all N.C.P.F. affiliated clubs and to individual members of those clubs. There are separate competitions for Projected Images and Prints. Within these disciplines there are awards for specific types of picture e.g. Landscape, Nature, etc.
All pictures entered take part in the individual competitions. Only those nominated by the club as their club entry are counted towards the club trophies. The pictures are judged by a panel of three judges (2 from outside the area and 1 from the N.C.P.F.) using an electronic scoring machine. Each judge awards from 2 to 5 points to each picture. In addition to the top places a number of pictures are awarded Highly Commended.
A separate panel of selectors made up of 3 N.C.P.F. judges goes through the pictures to select the N.C.P.F. entry into the annual Alliance (Photographic Alliance of Great Britain) competitions.
A portfolio of the award winning pictures and the Alliance entry is produced and can be booked by clubs to show on a club evening. Another portfolio called the "Selectors Choice" is produced from pictures other than those in the Awards Portfolio. These pictures are selected by a panel of N.C.P.F. judges who record comments on the pictures to go with the portfolio.
