Isle of Skye Journey

This is a BIG day trip to the magical Isle of Skye. We travel along Loch Ness, pass Urquhart Castle and head for the hills an glens towards the Atlantic Ocean, where the romantic Eilean Donan Castle sits on the shores of Loch Duich. We explore this ancient seat of the Clan MacRae for some time, then it’s over the sea to the Isle of Skye where an island welcome awaits you.

We meander along the rugged coastline, driving through small crofting communities with sheep grazing everywhere, until we arrive at the island’s capital, Portree. We stop in this charming harbour town for some time. There are lots of individual shops, eateries, local sea foods and inns.

We then make our way back through the magnificent Cuillin Mountain Range, described as “the most notable mountains in Britain”. Here the scenery is so dramatic and unspoiled.

Our homeward journey takes us back to Kyle of Lochalsh and over to Wester Ross to the picturesque Loch Carron, where we stop for some more scenic photos before heading for Achnasheen, then Inverness.
