Access Statement for Honeysuckle Cottage

 

Introduction

Our aim is to cater for the needs of all visitors in our 2 bedroom bed & breakfast home. The following statement is a summary of our provision. If you have any specific questions please feel free to call us and we will endeavour to help.

 

Pre-Arrival

 

·        There is a bus stop opposite the Bell about 5 minutes walk but the service is not very frequent.

·        The main train station at Bradford on Avon is 15 minutes away by car. 

·        There are many local taxi services, if required we can make a booking for you.

Arrival & Car Parking Facilities

 

·        On arrival to the property there is a hard standing in front of our garage with a yellow door and a five bar gate. There are 3 marked bays for parking.

·        The surface is a slight slope of concrete and there is a level footpath made of concrete to the front door of the house.

·        We can assist guests with luggage

 

Main Entrance

 

·        The front door is 71cm wide and there is a 10cm high edge/step to negotiate.

·        There is a bell pull 140cm from the ground if the door is not open.

·        On entry into our home there is a porch 122cm x 122cm.

·        There is an inner glass door 68cm wide leading into the dining room area with a step down of 14cm.

·        The entire house has fitted carpets and rugs.

·        The house is fully centrally heated


 

Breakfast Room and Stairs

 

·        The porch leads into the breakfast room.

·        There are 11 steps in the stairwell to a landing where both bedrooms are situated.

·        The stair steps are 18cm high, 24cm deep, and 85cm wide and there are two corners to negotiate.  A hand rail 95cm high from the step is available on the left of the stairs.

·        The stairs and the landing are well lit and a low energy light is left on outside the double bedroom all night.

·        Breakfast is served in the breakfast room on a period oval table seating up to 6 persons.

·        The table is 136cm wide 175cm long and 74cm high; there is one chair with arms.

·        Breakfast usually consists of juices, cereals, fruits, yoghurts, scrambled eggs (or to order), bacon/ham, mushrooms, grilled tomatoes, toast, jams, marmalade, butter, coffee and tea. Vegetarians or vegans can be catered for with prior warning. Please advise us of any specific dietary problems i.e. dairy produce beforehand.

 

Bedrooms

There are 2 bedrooms both on the first floor.

 

Double bedroom (large room) 5m x 3m

·        Door width is 75cm wide.

·        The Queen sized double bed is 60cm high 200cm long and 155cm wide.

·        Television with remote control and teletext.

·        Clock radio alarm.

·        Cot can be provided.

·        Two armchairs are provided in the room with a round coffee table and there is a large fitted cupboard with hanging space and shelves.

·        There is an en-suite bath and shower room (see below for details).

 

Twin bedded room (small cottage room) 4.5m x 2.5m

·        Door width (main and bathroom) are 75cm wide.

·        Twin beds 60cm high 190cm long and 90cm wide.

·        There is approximately 50cm between the wall and the end of the beds.

·        There is a private shower room accessed by a semi private corridor (see below for details).

·        There is a TV with teletext.

·        Clock radio alarm.

·        One armchair and hanging area in recess and chest of drawers.

 

Twin sitting room and occasional single 2.8m x 2.4m

 

·        Accessed from the twin via the semi private corridor 100cm wide and 160cm long. To the right is the sitting room and to the left the shower room both exclusive to the occupants of the twin.

·        Two chairs and coffee table and divan bed/sofa 54cm high 80cm wide and 190 cm long (bed is suitable for a child or small person related to occupants of the twin). Chest of drawers.

·        Digital Radio

 

Bathroom and Shower-room

 
Double bedroom ensuite

·        Door width 66cm

·        Free floor space clear of door is 198cm x 149cm

·        The bath edge is 59cm high 58cm wide 153cm long. There are grab handles in the bath

·        There is a shower head at the non tap end of the bath and a non slip mat is provided to stand on.

·        The basin is rounded and built into a fixed unit and is 86cm high and all pipes are hidden.

·        The toilet is 40cm high

 

Twin bedroom shower

·        Door width 66cm.

·        Shower cubicle edge/step is 18cm high. Height of cubicle 190cm 73cm by 74cm.

·        Basin is rounded at the front and is on a vanity unit 84cm high

·        Toilet is 42cm high

 

Garden

 

·        We have a small garden (flower border and lawn) and patio area for guests to sit in. Access by the back door of the breakfast room (which is also the nearest access in case of fire).

·       There is a vast common in front of the B&B for walking and has natural paths crisscrossing it. The common is cut end of June or July and in Spring early Summer is abundant with wild flowers and grasses.

·       Our garage is available for storing bikes or there is a sheltered spot behind the five bar gate.

 

Additional Information

  

·        Mobile phone reception is generally good but can be patchy.

·        WiFi is available from 0700 to 2300 hours.

·        We are able to use the front and back doors (see above) in the need of evacuation.  If you require more assistance for evacuating please notify us on arrival and we will ensure you are evacuated safely e.g. hearing impairment.

·        We are a no smoking building and garden (windows too close to the garden sitting area)

·        Our main fridge can be used on request (not available 24hours).

·        The Bell (Pub and Restaurant) is a few minutes walk from us across the Common.

·       Hours of operation: All the year round except Christmas. This is our home so we are here 24/7 but do need to get out on occasion. Guests are given keys to access the B&B and their rooms but we do request an estimated arrival time on your first day. Departure is requested by 11.00 a.m. unless by prior arrangement with us.
