Andrew Downes, former Head of School of Composition and
Creative Studies at Birmingham Conservatoire, talks about his life
as a freelance composer since his early retirement from the Conservatoire in 2005. There will be recorded illustrations from
the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra, the Royal Philharmonic
Orchestra, and excerpts from the DVD of his full length opera
Far from the Madding Crowd, commissioned for the 2006
Thomas Hardy Festival in Dorchester, Dorset.
