Environmental Links:

The list below provides a variety of environment-related links. Some of these are very specific, others are more general.

One of the best sites to start is the excellent Envirolink site which is a very smoothly presented database of environmental links. It contain teachers notes, statistics, organisations and all sorts of, well I have to say, odd links ( Adopt-A-Cow being a nice example). Have a look for yourself - and let me know if you decide to Adopt-A-Cow!! Be warned, however, it is a huge site and if you know what you are looking for, then one of the links below may get you there quicker...

Envirolinkan excellent general site and the home of Adopt-A-Cow.

Friends of The Earthalways an interesting site. particularly for campaign information.

Greenpeacethe UK branch of this high profile campaigning organisation.

British Antarctic Surveya very topical area, particularly now that the Protection Treaty has finally been signed by all countries concerned with Antarctica. The site has a wide range of information, including a section for 'Schools and Students'.

World Conservation Monitoring Centrea UK based organisation which does as the name suggests - it checks what is going on. It is most useful for the databases on Forest Areas, on Protected Areas, etc. It includes some nice maps.

World Wide Waste Webeverything you ever wanted to know and probably a few things that you would rather not know, about waste and recycling. It includes links to such sites as ROTWEB - keep the nose pegs on for that one! If you're doing a project on recycling, this could keep you going for a long time.

International Union of Air Pollution & Environmental Protection Associationswith a title like that, it has to be useful...

UK Environment Facts and Figuresthe Department of the Environment provides both facts and figures on a wide range of environmental topics.

UK Air Quality Bulletinthis site has tons of data and information on air pollution, including real-time data. Scary stuff.
