Description Rhizome: creeping, epigeous, diameter 8 - 10 mm.

Leaves: cataphylls dark purple-brown, distally greenish, up to 7 cm long; petiole 8 - 16 cm long; lamina lanceolate, basally cuneate and distally attenuate, decurrent, 18 - 25 long x 3 - 4.5 cm wide, uniformly green, mid-vein adaxially narrowly deepened, abaxially a sharp prominent keel with 3 (- 4) secondary veins either side and very fine nerves between them.

Peduncle: 15 - 25 mm long, with 4 - 5 widely ovate, dark blue-violet cataphylls; flowers solitary.

Perianth [Perigone]: campanulate, dark blue-violet; tube 10 mm long x 8 mm diameter, lobes 6, narrow triangular, 10 mm long x 5 mm wide, moderately bent outwards, smooth, distally with a narrow, thinned fringe.

Stamens: 6, 1 - 1.2 mm long, positioned a little below the middle of tube.

Pistil: columnar; 10 mm long, style cylindrical, slender, stigma rounded-triangular to trilobed, diameter 4 mm, white to pale violet; ovary inconspicuous.

Fruit: globose, mammillate, blackish-purple.

Phenology: flowers March - April.
