Aspidistra carinata
Accepted name Aspidistra carinata Y. Wan & X. H. Lu. Bull. Bot. Res., Harbin, 9(2): 97, fig. 1. (1989). Synonyms Distribution China (N Guangxi) Description Rhizome: creeping, subterete, diameter 6 - 8 mm. Leaves: solitary, ca. 95 cm long; cataphylls undescribed; petiole 22 - 24 cm; lamina green with yellowish white spots, linear-lanceolate, 60 - 70 cm long x 3.5 - 4.5 cm wide.
Peduncle: 1 - 2 cm long with ca. 4 bracts, two large bracts subtending the flower; flowers solitary.
Perianth [Perigone]: suburceolate; tube ca. 8 mm long x 7 mm diameter, with fleshy keels on both surfaces; lobes 8, reflexed, deltoid-oblong, ca. 3 mm long x 1.5 mm wide, adaxially with 2 or 3 papillose keels.
Stamens: 8, inserted proximally in perianth tube, subsessile, anthers oblong, ca. 1.5 mm.
Pistil: parasol-like; ca. 7 mm high, style articulate just above ovary; basally a slender column developed at the top into a peltate, orbicular stigma ca. 4 mm in diameter, convex at centre, 8-lobed at margin; ovary conspicuous, conoid, ridged.
Fruit: undescribed.
Phenology: flowers November.
