Aspidistra cyathiflora
Accepted name Aspidistra cyathiflora Y. Wan & C. C. Huang. Bull. Bot. Res., Harbin. 9(2): 100, fig. 3. (1989). Synonyms Distribution China (Guangxi) Description Rhizome: creeping, subterete, diameter 6 - 11 mm. Leaves: solitary or 2- or 3-tufted, ca. 60 cm; cataphylls undescribed, petiole 2 - 14 cm; lamina linear-oblanceolate, 25 - 45 cm long x 1.8 - 3.5 cm wide.
Peduncle: 0.8 - 2 cm long with 3 - 5 bracts; flowers solitary.
Perianth [Perigone]: subcupular; tube pale yellow-green spotted with purple outside, purple inside except for white base, ca. 7 mm long x 13 mm diameter; lobes 6, erect, pale yellow adaxially, deltoid, 5 - 7 mm long x 5 - 6 mm wide, smooth.
Stamens: 6, inserted in base of perianth tube, filament ca. 1 mm, anther broadly ovate, 2 - 3 mm long.
Pistil: mushroom-shaped; style basally columnar (diameter ca. 5 mm) developed at the top into a peltate, orbicular stigma, 5 - 8 mm in diameter, 3 (- 4) -lobed at margin, the surface purple or with a yellow centre, with 3 white grooves bifurcated at the tip; ovary undescribed.
Fruit: undescribed.
Phenology: flowers December.
