Aspidistra marasmioides
Accepted name Aspidistra marasmioides Tillich. Feddes Repert. 116(5-6): 321 (335, 337; fig. 2h). (2005). Synonyms Distribution Vietnam (Hai Phong) Description Rhizome: widely creeping and freely branching, diameter 4 mm, imbricately covered with small, brown cataphylls. Leaves: solitary [?] to ca. 27 cm; cataphylls undescribed; petiole 10 - 15 cm long x 2 mm diameter; lamina elliptic, 10 - 12 cm long x 5 cm wide, dull green with small pale green dots, base cuneate to truncate, somewhat decurrent, apex cuspidate, at both sides of midrib 3 - 4 secondary veins, between them 4 very fine tertiary veins.
Peduncle: 2 - 3 cm long, purple, with 5 - 7 purple, elliptic-cuspidate cataphylls; flowers solitary.
Perianth [Perigone]: cupulate; 12 mm long x 15 mm diameter, tube white outside, purple inside, lobes 6, purple, reflexed, smooth.
Stamens: 6, positioned at middle height of tube, filament 1 mm, anthers ovoid, 2 - 2.5 mm long, pollen sacs oriented downwards.
Pistil: mushroom-shaped, 11 mm long, somewhat exceeding the tube; style slender, 6 mm long, stigma delicate, hemispherical, 3 mm long x 6 mm diameter, surface smooth, pale pink; ovary inconspicuous, hardly wider than the style.
Fruit: undescribed.
Phenology: flowers November - December.
