Accepted name Aspidistra oblanceifolia F. T. Wang & K. Y. Lang. Acta Phytotax. Sin., 20(4): 487, fig. 2 (1982). Synonyms Distribution China (S Guizhou, W Hubei, Sichuan) Description Rhizome: creeping, subterete, 5 - 7 mm thick. Leaves: solitary to ca. 65 cm; cataphylls undescribed; petiole 6 - 13 cm, stiff; lamina green, sometimes inconspicuously yellowish white spotted, narrowly oblanceolate, 35 - 50 cm long x 2.5 - 4 cm wide.
Scape: 2 - 3 (?) mm; bracts several with 2 [- 4] subtending flower; flowers solitary.
Perianth [Perigone]: campanulate, purple-red, fleshy; tube 9 - 11 mm long x 6 - 10 mm diameter; lobes 8, slightly recurved, oblong, 3 - 4 mm long x 1.5 - 2 mm wide, 2 fleshy keels near base and papillose adaxially.
Stamens: 8, inserted proximally in perianth tube, subsessile; anthers ovate, ca. 1 mm.
Pistil: mushroom shaped; 3.5 - 4 mm long, style basally a slender column developed into a purple, peltate, orbicular, stigma 5 - 6 mm in diameter, exceeding anthers, 4 short ribs in centre adaxially, 8 (-10)-lobed at margin.
Fruit: undescribed.
Phenology: flowers April.
