Description Rhizome: creeping, subterete, covered with scales.

Leaves: solitary to ca. 45 cm; cataphylls undescribed; petiole ca.15 - 30 cm; leaf blade oblong or ovate-oblong, 10 - 14 cm long x 4 - 5 cm wide.

Peduncle: 5 - 10 mm long; flowers solitary.

Perianth [Perigone]: campanulate, purple; tube 7 - 8 mm long x 7 mm diameter; lobes 6, oblong, 3 - 4 mm long x ca. 2.5 mm wide.

Stamens: 6, inserted proximally in perianth tube, anthers broadly elliptic, 1.2 - 1.5 mm long x 0.8 - 1.2 mm wide.

Pistil: columnar; 6 - 7 mm high, style slender slightly enlarged at the top into a stigma ca. 2 mm in diameter, convex adaxially, 3-ridged; ovary conspicuously swollen.

Fruit: berry globose, 8 - 10 mm in diameter, scabrous.

Phenology: flowers November.
