"Hedychium maximum" images
This species cannot properly be called Hedychium maximum (a name applied by Roscoe to a form of Hedychium coronarium) but its correct name and
attribution are currently not known to me.
In some lights, photographs of the flowers suggest that are whitish with yellow centres but this is an artefact
the true flower colour is yellow with a slightly darker "flame" in the centre of the labellum
The flowers of "Hedychium maximum" are large as can be seen here with a dissected flower against a cm grid
