Comments

Smith & Baum have established that Iochroma australe is an Eriolarynx but did not establish Eriolarynx australe pending a more fundamental review of the genus.

Iochroma australe large-flowered is an accepted name in the RHS Horticultural Database.  It was last listed in the RHS Plant Finder in 1998.

Iochroma australe is known to be a variable plant and there would appear to be scope to increase flower size through recurrent selection.  However, whether the plant sold under this name had significantly larger flowers than usual cannot now be determined.
