Iochroma cyaneum dark is an accepted name in the RHS Horticultural Database.  It was last listed in the RHS Plant Finder in 1998.

Iochroma cyaneum is known to be a variable plant and there is much variation in flower colour.  Julian Shaw gave cultivar names to four clones of Iochroma cyaneum in cultivation in the UK and it is most likely that this plant is referable to 'John Miers'. However, this cannot now be proven.
