The
name implies that this is the "normal" form of a variable species. Musa
ornata gives the impression of being a highly polymorphic species with many
cultivars listed in nurserymen's catalogues. The apparent variation is largely
illusory and due to Musa ornata's tendency to hybridise readily and not to
inherent variation.
