This is one of several Indonesian banana cultivars given a spurious species name
by Takenosin Nakai. Nakai says of it in his idiosyncratic English, "this a cultivated banana found everywhere in
West Java, but not abundantly. Its ripe fruits within one or one and half month
after flower, so it received the native name Pisang Semburang. Ordinarily its fruits
are eaten by roasting by cocoa-nut oil". Hotta's synonym implies
that this is a AA, or perhaps more likely, an AAA group banana. |
