Distribution Celebes.
Description Stalk of the inflorescence covered with greyish-brown minute velvety hairs.  Perianth 1½ in. long; free petal ¾ in. long, broadly ovate, cuspidate-acuminate.  Fruit about 5 in. long, beaked, somewhat angled, with a short thick stalk.

Comments Takenosin Nakai comments that M. tomentosa and M. celebica belong to one "species" and that the latter should be reduced to the former.
