Fructus stipite 2 cm. longo villoso lineari-oblongus apice rostratus saepe
fusco vel atro-fusco-villosus, cum testa 2 mm. crassa tenacissima, sarco dulce. (Nakai 1948). |

This is one of several Indonesian banana cultivars given a
spurious species name by Takenosin Nakai. Nakai says of it in his idiosyncratic
English, "this is considered to be the origin of Palembang state in South Sumatra. The fruits are more or less rigid
hairy and those of Pisang Palembang bulu (hairy Palembang banana) are the most,
being covered by brownish or blackish hairs. The flesh is as nice as Pisang Lampung,
but the skin is very strong as it can hardly split off with
fingers without damaging the flesh." |
