Synonyms Authorities Identification by Gerda Rossel. The World Checklist of Monocotyledons lists Musa bidigitalis De Wild., Miss. de Briey Mayumbe: 329 (1920) as a synonym of Ensete ventricosum (Welw.) Cheesman, Kew Bull. 2: 101 (1947 publ. 1948) which is given as an accepted name.

In this context Musa x bidigitalis is synonymous with Musa x paradisiaca L. Cheesman identified Musa x paradisiaca L. as Musa (AAB group) 'French' plantain (Cheesman 1948). Gerda Rossel's identification cannot be reconciled with the World Checklist of Monocotyledons.
