Description	Nearly allied to M. malaccensis [Ridl.] but the broad, thick, blunt, bright yellow bracts give it a totally different appearance, the spike being quite blunt at the top. (Fawcett 1913).

Comments	According to Simmonds M. flava is merely a yellow-bracted mutant of M. acuminata subsp. malaccensis.
