Section Distribution Indonesia (West Java). Description References Hotta 1989, Index Kewensis, Nakai 1948 : 16. Comments 'Pisang semburang'. This is one of several Indonesian banana cultivars given a spurious species name by Takenosin Nakai. Published as Musa prematura the "x" is added to indicate its presumed hybridity. Nakai says of it in his idiosyncratic English, "this a cultivated banana found everywhere in West Java, but not abundantly. Its ripe fruits within one or one and half month after flower, so it received the native name Pisang Semburang. Ordinarily its fruits are eaten by roasting by cocoa-nut oil".
It may be a risky assumption but Hotta's synonym implies that this is a AA, or perhaps more likely, an AAA group banana.
