Musella lasiocarpa images

Musella lasiocarpa flowering sequence of plant in cultivation in UK

05/06/02 - day 1 - The first sign of flowering is a reduction in the size of emerging leaves.

This plant is in a 30 litre container but Musella will grow to full size and flower in a 15 litre container. It seems to like its roots being restricted. The plant here is about 1.3 m tall from compost surface to the tip of the tallest leaf.

In an actively growing plant the first sign of flowering is a reduction in size of emerging leaves. I have observed Musella to come into flowering throughout the year.  It can even start flowering in a leafless condition, immediately on emerging from winter dormancy.
