Blue sapphire is the
birthstone for September. Sapphire
is often considered to be synonymous with the colour blue: you can easily
imagine sapphire seas. However,
sapphire is beautiful beyond blue, in every colour but red, because red is
called ruby.
The other colours of sapphire can be just as beautiful
and rare - or even rarer - than the blue. The most valuable other fancy sapphire is an orange-pink or
pinkish-orange called “padparadscha” after the sacred lotus blossom. Padparadscha sapphires are extremely rare.
Other very popular shades of ‘fancy’ sapphires are yellows, bright
oranges, lavenders and purples, and a bluish-green colour. Generally, the more clear and vivid the colour, the more valuable the
sapphire. Historically, blue
sapphire has always been associated with true love and purity; it represents the
heavens and Angels. Sapphire gets
its name from the Sanskrit word Sani (Saturn).
Blue Sapphire
Blue sapphire encourages you to reach for the stars,
for high spiritual attainment. It
can release you from emotional
bondage. Wearing, carrying or using
blue sapphire makes you a seeker of truth. It works primarily on the throat chakra, also the thyroid and parathyroid

Purple Sapphire
