Dr. Selwood is a Specialty Doctor in Adult Psychiatry at Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust. He occasionally acts as a Consultant Adult Psychiatrist, both at the Trust and at Colnbrook Immigration Removal Centre. GMC No: 4323794 Brief Curriculum Vitae Qualifications: MB ChB, JCPTGP, MRCPsych Accreditation: Approved clinician status for the purposes of section 145(1), including approval under section 12(2), of the Mental Health Act 1983. Approved as an assessor for Deprivation of Liberty authorisations under the Mental Capacity Act Areas of Expertise: Mental Illness, Cognitive Impairment, Capacity, Personality Disorder, Substance Misuse. Having trained as a doctor in Leeds, I went on to complete vocational training for General Practice in Buckinghamshire. As part of my General Practice training I spent 18 months as a Senior House Officer in Adult Psychiatry at Amersham Hospital. I then worked for three years as a Staff Grade Psychiatrist in Old Age Psychiatry, gaining considerable experience in the diagnosis and treatment of dementia. I have spent about 6 years working in Assertive Outreach Teams and a Community Acute Service (Acute Day Hospital and Crisis Team) as a Staff Grade Psychiatrist, Specialty Registrar and Specialty Doctor where I have broadened my experience in the diagnosis and treatment of severe mental illness, substance misuse and personality disorder. I have worked in a Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit and in Learning Disability Psychiatry. Over the last few years I have spent several periods as an Acting Consultant in different parts of the Trust as well as within my own Teams. I act as Responsible Clinician for all my Assertive Outreach Team inpatients and some outpatients too. I am regularly involved in both Mental Health Act assessments and in DoLS assessments.
