This is a photo-documentary I started while studying Photography in Stoke. I had heard the team where soon to move ground, and with such an opportunity I managed to gain access to the club.

The brief was simple, to document the people in the environment they where in. As the ground was scheduled for demolition and the new ground was taking shape further into the horizon I wanted to use this as two things, a learning curve and a way to build a documentary portfolio.

The 1996/1997 season was good for Stoke, missing out on promotion by a short way, but leaving the old Vic on a good note - despite the departure of manager Lou Marci. The future seemed bright. Starting back at Stoke I found the ground spacious and empty. soon this new stadium turned into a site of vile for the fans - and ultimately the site for their current second division scrap.

In all it's taken two years to get here. The pictures are all printed on Kentmere VC Select and using either HP5 or Neopan 1600 film.
