HORSE WATCHES GAME

Returning to the club after Christmas brought a shock. 1998 season started as it ended - with protests and trouble in and out of the club. The game against Birmingham I felt had a different atmosphere to it. The crowd where hostile and lost all of the sprit which showed through at the Vic.

On-Pitch the players simply gave up, they lost 7-0. Towards the end of the game the Police piled into the ground, and mounted officers took to lining the pitchside. This picture was taken while one horse moved into position.

As the game ended the fans piled into the pitch, and the police allowed a few hundred to remain on the pitch protesting to the chairmen. As I moved in between these fans no-one wanted to be photographed and they became hostile to any attempt to take a picture.

Ultimately I did, but I liked this picture best for it's unusual view.
