PICNIC AT PITCHSIDE

The Victoria Ground was a place of tradition. People would arrive early and take the same place they have for season after season.

This family took a prime position every home game, right next to the Stoke dug-out.

I have a few photographs of people standing by the edge of the terrace, but this shows something about the attitude, the face that you can set-up Saturday lunch and enjoy (hopefully) a game of football. Sadly images like this are disappearing fast, replaced by all-seater-all-singing concrete stadiums.

To bring out the family I burnt the dug-out for an extra 1/2 of exposure time and the top 1/3 of the picture at about 1/3 exposure time.
