"I do not now believe that any one of the hundreds of executions I carried out has in any way acted as a deterrent against future murder. Capital punishment, in my view, achieved nothing except revenge."
Albert Pierrepoint, 1974.
Hangman of Great Britain
1941 to 1956
Since time began, man has been devising ways of killing his fellow man, whether for religious, lawful, or illegal reasons, or in time of war.
This site is dedicated to the methods of killing man has devised for the judicial process. This site is not intended to be an area of discussion as to the
morality of the Death Penalty...please do not send any e-mails to me regarding this subject, they will be ignored. The site is merely a historical note concerning executions and some of the persons
connected with them albeit executioner or executed.
On the following pages, I have gathered together the six main methods of execution, the processes and stories of some of the victims. One page is dedicated to the more rare and cruel methods of execution
noted throughout history. From Beheading to Stoning, from Hanging to Garotting, somewhere on this site you should find
that which you seek. I hope to update the site on a monthly basis, until I get more research completed, and then, hopefully, on a weekly basis.
If there is anything that you are particularly interested in, be it a specific case history or more about the methods, do not hesitate
to send me an e-mail and I will try to put up the answer or reply directly to you. Good reading!!
