- Give short term achievable targets with a beginning and an end
- Give as much 1:1 as possible but do not segregate
- Give work which is within his capabilities
- Give appropriate praise
- Recognise and praise when he is on task
- Check he has started his work and he understands the task set
Greg becoming agitated
Be aware of these indicators:
- Shoulders hunched
- Swinging on chair
- Frowning
- Body posturing
If difficult behaviour starts
- Give a non-verbal warning to discourage
- Give a quiet verbal warning
- Try to teach close to Greg and engage in intervention conversation - he likes sport and computer games
- If Greg refuses to co-operate remain calm and non-confrontational
- Issue warning - e.g. "Greg, get on with your work please." Or, "We are all
working quietly in here. Please calm down Greg."
- If he cannot calm down, or is not co-operating ask him to go to .. ... ..... .. . ... . until he is calm
- When he is calm he may return to the lesson or rejoin at the next lesson (To be decided.)
- Complete Incident Sheet and return it to Form Tutor
