Recruitment

Most of this work has been for the graduate recruitment market, and it breaks down into two main categories. Firstly, I have written a large number of brochures for private and public companies seeking to attract well qualified applicants. These publications have ranged in size from six pages to more than sixty for very large organisations such as Shell.

At annual conferences of the Association of Graduate Recruiters, the Shell brochures have been selected both as "Best Recruitment Literature of the Year" and "Best in Category".

These awards were particularly satisfying as judging was carried out by students - i.e. the target market. The range of industries covered is quite extensive, but with a particular emphasis on pharmaceuticals, finance, and engineering.

Clients include the following, plus many others:
  • Shell
  • British Telecom
  • Eli Lily & Co
  • Glaxo
  • Department of Health
  • Anadrill Schlumberger
  • Smiths Aerospace
  • Lloyd's of London

Secondly, Hobsons Publishing Plc produces a range of casebooks featuring graduates in the early years of their career, through which client companies aim to attract applicants to their organisations. Some cover a particular industrial sector, others a certain geographical region (e.g. Singapore), educational qualification (e.g. executive programmes) or section of the community (e.g. ethnic minorities).

For many years I have written not only the case studies but also background material and articles which express the views of major organisations on specific topics; for example, the latest developments in the oil industry or the legal complexities of intellectual property. The casebooks to which I have contributed include the following:

  • IT and Communications
  • Engineering
  • Finance
  • Science
  • MBA
  • Law
  • Executive Programmes
  • International Education
  • Supply Chain Management
  • Management
  • Marketing, Retailing & Sales
  • Global Banking and Consultancy
