 I ’ve got twenty-eight
criminal convictions. I turned to crime because I started taking drugs at an
early age.I was fifteen when I started taking drugs.I got into drugs through
friends and peer pressure basically.When I was at school I had a good time
until I got suspended for fighting and abusive language. Since I have been in prison it has taught me nothing.I ’ve gained a few qualifications in the Young Offenders Prisons but I ’ve got a criminal record.They do try and help you more in the YP ’s but in the over twenty-one prison if you want help you have to go and get it. In the past when I have got out of prison they have just given me my money and I ’ve gone straight back to drugs.I have nowhere to live when I get out of prison so I ’ve only been able to go to ‘smack houses ’and ‘crack dens ’. The T.H.O.M.A.S.Project Worker was visiting me in prison.She helped me through a lot of bad times.I ’ve just been released today and Pam came to pick me up.I ’ve just come here to visit Father Jim and then I ’m off to the Chatterton Hey drug rehabilitation unit. What I want to do with my life now is stay clean,get myself a job and stay well away from drugs.I also want to move to a different area to start a-fresh. Prison doesn ’t work because they think that they can just lock you away and you ’ll get bored of it,but you don ’t because boredom is just a barrier that you pass.It ’s not hard to find any drug you want in jail.They say they ’ve stopped it but they haven ’t.There are a lot of people in |
