EDGES MAGAZINE Issue 28

January 2002

Paul is a current client on out rehabilitation programme.

Of distant pasts and memories dear,
Through life’s indiscretions where nothing is clear,
So runs a life full of heartache and pain,
Those emotional battles fought time and again,

Around each emotion is built a big wall,
Displaying no feeling, show nothing at all,
No heartache from loss, no pleasure from gain,
Just running and hiding, avoiding all pain,

The distance created from family and friends,
Pushed further by substance upon which I depend,
A gap ever stretched and never diminished,
Only to close as this phase draws to finish,

So now I must change, my life turns around,
Emotions grow stronger and feelings abound,
Of dealing with thoughts and acceptance of sin,
And growing to like this stranger within.
