I became
homeless because I was getting beat up by my step-dad when I was younger. I
lived on the streets and several hostels. Its mostly because theres
not enough places around to help young people out. The hostels are alright.
Some of them are rough but its better than sleeping on the streets.
Ive been to Sheffield, Leeds, Stockport, Nottingham, Preston and Blackpool. Ive been from Scotland down to Plymouth. I started travelling when I was about seventeen and Ive been all over the country. The only main place I havent been is London. Over the last few years travelling about has been hard because I havent had anywhere to stop. When I was younger it was a lot harder than it is now. When youre young sometimes you cant get housing benefit. Now Im a bit older Ive got more experience. Its not very nice living on the streets and travelling around. The people Ive met have always been friendly because they were in the same situation as me and they knew where I was coming from. With social workers they can only understand to a certain degree because they havent been there. They always think they know what theyre on about. Im on sickness benefit at the moment and Ive got my own flat. I find it hard to get furniture and stuff for the flat. I have started to get help from different people, which is great. Some housing associations will help you out with the furniture. If they do help you out they charge you a bit extra on top of your rent, so youre better going out and finding your own furniture. The hostels are quite good but theyre mostly for young people but I can understand that because they havent got the experience. My hobbies are general sports like running, football, walking and cycling. I like most music as long as its not classical or heavy rock. I like dance music. |
